With a mission to “inspire and advance policy, environmental and lifestyle changes that promote health through the prevention and reduction of obesity,” LiveWell Colorado (LWC) is Colorado’s leading statewide healthy people in healthy places initiative. LWC is a nonprofit organization that employs a five-pronged approach including community-based grantmaking, policy change, a social marketing campaign, strategic communications, and evaluation. Policy and environmental change is one of five central themes of LiveWell Colorado’s work. LWC has developed a series of blueprints to focus on specific policy issues. These blueprints identify opportunities and gaps to help coordinate policy efforts, including legislative policy, across communities. The blueprints, while led by LWC, are envisioned to be the state plan for addressing policy and environmental changes moving forward. LWC has coordinated grassroots advocacy activities to ensure that communities are empowered to make legislative changes not only at the local level but to support statewide legislative efforts. LiveWell Colorado is jointly funded by Kaiser Permanente, the Colorado Health Foundation, and the Kresge Foundation. LiveWell Colorado |
