Maine Convergence

The Maine Convergence Partnership, which is at its earliest phase of development, will build on the successes, partnerships, and leadership demonstrated by the Let’s Go!initiative to create a regional convergence. Let’s Go! is a multi-sector, community based demonstration initiative that seeks to “bend the trend” in the growing youth obesity epidemic through the implementation of highly coordinated, evidence-based, healthy eating and active living strategies. Let’s Go! is supported through a unique partnership of seven corporate, community, and health care provider organizations based in Maine. The organizations provide funds, in-kind resources, and overall strategic direction. Four years of experience have produced considerable success within individual communities and populations. As a result, the partners believe they are uniquely poised to fill the current void in healthy eating/active living-related public policy work in Maine and to develop a coherent, actionable strategy to leverage these incremental changes in achieving larger scale impact at the regional and state levels. Upcoming activities include producing an action plan for policy and environmental change, and identifying and building alliances with partners to implement key strategic initiatives. Let's Go! (Maine)
